Winter solstice celebration set

The public is invited to celebrate the winter solstice from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 21 at the Amy B.H. Greenwell Ethnobotanical Garden in Captain Cook, across from the Manago Hotel, near mile marker 110.

A silent auction, arts and crafts, fresh food and drinks, music and dancing, face painting and kid’s games are planned.

The winter solstice, the shortest day of the year, marks the end of darkness and the beginning of light. This longer day cycle is cause for cultural celebration uniting communities worldwide.
